Here are steps you can take to accomplish this goal:

1) Eat foods rich in vitamins A, C, E, lutein, zeaxanthin and omega-3 fatty acids such as leafy green vegetables, citrus fruits and cold-water fish. Foods that contain these nutrients support a healthy network of cells in your eyes, improve vision, keep eyes moist and reduce your risk of cataracts and macular degeneration.

2) Protect your eyes against harmful UV exposure year-round by wearing wraparound sunglasses that block 100% UV rays. Prolonged exposure to sunlight can increase your risk of cataracts, macular degeneration, cancer in your eyes and skin cancer on your eyelids.

3) Protect your eyes against harmful blue light emitted from screens and LED lights by limiting screen time, taking breaks from screens every 20 minutes to rest your eyes and investing in eyewear with blue light filtering protection. Prolonged exposure to blue light can cause digital eye strain, sleep disruption and increase your risk of cataracts, macular degeneration, cancer in your eyes and growths on your eyes.

4) Regularly visit your eye doctor! Most eye diseases, if caught early, have better visual outcomes. During your annual comprehensive eye exam, we check your eye health as well as your vision. Preserve your precious sight!
